The Passing of Our Ex-Chief Executive, Sudhu Prabhu

It is with great sadness that we announce our ex Chief Executive, Mr Sudhu Prabhu, has passed away at the age of 87.

Educated at both the University of Mumbai in India and Imperial College in London; Sudhu Prabhu became an Associate at Pell Frischmann in 1963 and a Partner in 1967. As a renowned structural engineer, he was responsible for the design of some of London’s most recognisable buildings, including Centre Point, Nat West Tower (now Tower 42) and Drapers Gardens – for which he was awarded the Oscar Faber Bronze Medal for a paper presented to the Institution of Structural Engineers in 1967. As CEO, and together with his business partner, Dr Wilem W. Frischmann, Sudhu was responsible for transforming the company of 32 employees into a successful worldwide multidisciplinary operation with nearly 1,000 staff.

Those who knew Sudhu will remember his extreme modesty, kindness, and attention to the careers and lives of others. He never spoke of his extensive and very active support for social projects and charities both in the UK and in his native India. He was a strong advocate of the philosophy that people who have had the opportunity to achieve success in life should make substantial efforts to ensure that others have similar opportunities – hence his interest in the support of education projects. In 2009, he was awarded the highly prestigious Lloyds TSB Jewel Award for Lifetime Achievement.

The whole firm offers its heartfelt condolences to his wife Meena, his children, Tushar, Warsha, and Ashu and his grandchildren. Sudhu leaves behind a lasting positive legacy that we will do our utmost to carry on.
