Rail Engineering

In the 30 years since supporting London Underground’s pump and drainage teams, Pell Frischmann’s Rail Engineering capabilities have evolved in to what is today, multi-disciplinary across sectors, working on both national and local metro operational rail infrastructure up and down the country.

We work with rail and non-rail clients looking to develop or improve their own assets adjacent to land owned by rail organisations. Such experience has provided the know-how to build over and adjacent to the railway as part of Building Sector schemes; introducing new or improved stations to assist with planning approval, developing rail transport initiatives for complex Land Development schemes; such as those funded by the Housing Infrastructure Fund, s106 funds or as part of a transport strategy supporting planning.

Led by Jon McPhee, the Rail Engineering Team prides itself on completing complex, high-quality rail commissions such as that within a Design & Build contract at Silwood Sidings to provide essential new stabling for TfL London Overground on Network Rail infrastructure, reopening of an operational Network Rail freight line to serve the new Hoo Station for Medway Council and capacity enhancement to serve new rolling stock at Hammersmith Station and the adjacent Hammersmith Depot for TfL London Underground.

Our in-house teams work alongside specialists and experts in their fields from approved and vetted design partners to develop and then integrate solutions under a single assured proposal in which all stakeholders can have the highest confidence. We embrace the principals of Safe by Design ensuring that the skills and methods of our contractor clients are reflected in our design solutions for both permanent and temporary works. Our familiarity with the governance and assurance processes of all major rail organisations will help you steer your project through to a successful conclusion.

We are accredited by RISQS for design in all areas of multidisciplinary rail schemes using BIM compliant systems. Our Design Services Framework (DSF) contract with Network Rail covers 75% of Great Britain and we are members of Transport for London’s Engineering & Project Management framework covering London Overground, London Underground, Dockland Light Railway, London Tram and for. We are a part of the Midland Metro Alliance developing Birmingham’s tram system, work for train operators such as MerseyRail, local authorities, landowners, land developers and many other client bodies – including supporting them when required as Expert Witness.

We’d love to hear from you!
