Flood Resilience

For over 20 years, Pell Frischmann’s Flood Resilience Team has provided an extensive range of flood risk and sustainable drainage services UK-wide and internationally. This ranges from providing flood risk assessments for large-scale Land Development and Buildings developments for private-sector clients, to sustainable drainage design for new Rail and Highways & Transportation routes and the design of flood alleviation schemes for the public sector.

Pell Frischmann’s Flood Resilience Team brings an all-encompassing, multi-disciplinary consultancy service to local authorities such as the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, where we have designed the award-winning Cottingham and Orchard Park Flood Alleviation Scheme to protect 4,000 homes from future flooding events and to private developments such as the Barnham Eastergate Westergate Development for the Church Commissioners for England where we are carrying out the detailed design of the flood risk and drainage infrastructure.

Our teams are most successful when we are involved in all aspects of projects from the early concept and inception through to the successful completion. Our Flood Resilience Team, led by Brad Moxham covers all aspects of flood risk and sustainable drainage including strategic and site-specific Flood Risk Assessments, hydraulic modelling, breach analysis, SuDS and drainage design, Surface Water Management Plans and flood defences.

Following the 2007 floods, our team has responded to the challenges and the increased risk posed to people and communities from climate change, proactively ensuring that developments incorporate sustainably.

Floods are the most frequently occurring type of natural disaster; as flood risk rises, so does the risk to society. According to the UK Met Office, climate change has increased the risk of floods by 20%. The financial repercussions of flooding are increasing too, due to population growth and demographic changes, development on flood plains and changes in the value of buildings and infrastructure.
