Blackpool Quality Corridors

An exciting urban redevelopment and town centre streetscape regeneration, Blackpool Quality Corridors provided a much-needed upgrade for the local community and tourists. This was part of an overall regeneration scheme for Blackpool Town Centre, providing:

  • A new public realm
  • Landscaping features
  • Green areas and new trees planted
  • Enhanced public transport
  • Improved traffic flow
  • Improved streetscape

What We Did

Pell Frischmann combined their expertise in Civil and Highways Engineering, acting as the Lead Designer on this scheme. The design itself has taken a range of standard methods and integrated them with a local artist creating installations, plants and foliage to ensure an appealing area for the community. The mix of natural products and local tree species provides and warmth and welcome to those visiting from outside the community, as well as achieving the council’s sustainability goals.

Outcomes

Pell Frischmann believes the best outcomes are achieved when collaborating with our clients and partners throughout the scheme’s journey to provide the best services. This approach was epitomised on the Blackpool Quality Corridors scheme; it enabled our delivery team to successfully collaborate with Blackpool Council and John Sisk & Son, as well as engaging with over 15 SMEs to ensure efficient lines of communication, rapid decision-making and client aspirations with implemented effectively to deliver the best solutions.

This collaboration extended to the community too, whose engagement was fundamental, allowing disruption to their daily lives and livelihoods to be minimal.
