Pell Frischmann Shortlisted for ICE Award

Pell Frischmann is proud to announce that the Blackpool Quality Corridors Scheme has been shortlisted for the Small Project Award (under £5M) by The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) North West Civil Engineering Awards 2020.

Partnered with John Sisk and Son, the scheme is an exciting urban redevelopment programme that combines streetscaping and environmental regeneration in the heart of Blackpool’s town centre. The creation of a new public realm, sustainable drainage systems and improved traffic flow has provided the much-needed upgrade for tourists and residents within the area.

Blackpool Council’s Network and Project Manager, Latif Patel said,

“Pell Frischmann have supported Blackpool Council over a number of years in delivering key highway schemes in Blackpool, most recently on Quality Corridors 3. The brief and scope were fluid to allow the Design team to engage with key stakeholders and the client around what was suitable to all. This created a positive relationship and resulted in the brief being met. Testimony to this is the positive feedback received from businesses on the street”.

As we passionately pursue solutions that deliver better results for end-users, traditional methods on this scheme were used to complement innovative technology to provide high-class delivery and cost certainty to the programme. This approach supported the identification of phasing opportunities to minimise traffic and pedestrian diversions to alleviate any disruptions caused by the scheme.
