Buildings - Business Unit Director
With extensive experience in structural engineering, Mike’s expertise lies in delivering innovative engineering solutions within the parameters of cost, risk and buildability. Amalgamating innovation and practicality has been a constant throughout Mike’s career, developing skills and techniques that were once unique into common parlance in the industry.
Mike is vocal in believing that engineering, although built on strong foundations of knowledge, is constantly changing and adapting to the client’s needs and user’s requirements. From keeping assets open during enhancement, such as our Centre Point Redevelopment, to developing sustainable structures to reach the government’s aim of net zero-carbon by 2050, embracing new technologies and BIM that enable new solutions and possibilities for design.
After graduating in 1981 from the University College London, he built his career first in contracting and then at Whitby latterly AKT in 2006, before leading Pell Frischmann’s Buildings Sector in January 2010 and becoming its Business Unit Director in July 2020.
Working closely alongside the Digital Engineering & BIM Team, Mike leads the development of Pell Frischmann’s Embodied Carbon for Structures tool, designed to measure and compare the embodied carbon content in your structure. For more information, visit here.
