David Thomson

Environment – Sector Director

With 30 years’ experience, David joined Pell Frischmann in May 2022 to take up the role of Sector Director of Environmental Consultancy services across the company. 

David started his professional career at the Institute of Environmental Assessment (now IEMA) and later joined private sector consultancy in 1996.  Through this, he has established and managed highly successful EIA and sustainability teams with a focus on major urban regeneration as well as infrastructure projects including airports, ports, nuclear, logistics and renewable energy schemes. During his 20+ years in senior-level positions, he has held a broad portfolio of projects, people, financial and management responsibilities.  He is also an experienced Expert Witness, having provided written and oral evidence at several major public inquiries. 

David is a passionate advocate of sustainable development and protecting the natural environment, underpinned by his sound understanding of commercial, technical, planning policy and legal drivers. He relishes the opportunity to coordinate and focus the deep environmental expertise which exists within the company and to further promote and diversify our client offering in this rapidly expanding sector.

  • BSc. (Hons) Biology – University of Stirling 
  • MSc. Environmental Impact Assessment (Distinction) – University of Aberystwyth and University of Amsterdam 
  • Practitioner Member of IEMA
