Pell Frischmann is delighted to have produced fly-through visuals (which you can see below) showing the much-anticipated Wednesbury to Brierley Hill Metro extension, which forms part of Transport for West Midland’s (TfWM) ambitious plan to improve public transport across the West Midlands.
The video has been designed to highlight the route along Flood Street, Dudley, with trams travelling in both directions to Wolverhampton and Brierley Hill. The extension, which is being designed and built by the Midland Metro Alliance, of which Pell Frischmann is a proud partner, on behalf of TfWM, aims to improve the area’s public transport, allowing quick, easy and environment-friendly connectivity throughout the West Midlands region and unlocking future areas of growth.
The video has used, as its basis, the 3D design models from the teams involved in the detailed design of the much-anticipated light rail extension. The route is 11Km long, both on and off street and will be designed at this detailed 3D design level. Models from track, drainage, highways, structures, systems, urban realm and geotechnical have all been stitched together by 3D design and demonstrates the level of detail and quality being produced by the design team to bring this project alive – click to find out more about the Midlands Metro scheme.
The fly-through video was exclusively revealed on BBC Midlands Today and speaking about the footage, Mayor of the West Midlands, Andy Street, said: “This brilliant video clip transports viewers a few years into the future to see an important addition to our region’s transport network. The construction of this extension is more important than ever as infrastructure projects, like this one, are critical to our recovery from the global pandemic as they help to generate money for the local economy and secure and create local jobs for local people. The Wednesbury to Brierley Hill route will be a huge connectivity boost for the people of Dudley and Sandwell, and it also forms a key part of our wider, ambitious plans for the metro network across the whole West Midlands”.
