Meet Our Luton Office Industrial Placement Student

Over the last year, a student from Nottingham Trent University undertook an industrial placement with Pell Frischmann in the Luton office.

Max Emmett joined Pell Frischmann in September 2024, studying Construction Management, and has spent his third year of his degree in his industrial placement at Pell Frischmann; developing his experience across various sectors, including highways, water, and transportation, as well as getting involved in several projects. Max has developed his client-facing skills by attending site progress meetings as well as developing his experience in the bid process.

The purpose of the placement was for Max to gain hands-on experience, adding invaluable knowledge and skills to the areas he has been studying through his degree.

Mita Katechia, Principal Project Manager and Max’s line manager said:

We were very pleased to have Max join our team as an industrial placement student with the project management team in Luton. Throughout his time with us, Max demonstrated a real understanding of key project management principles and quickly became an integral part of our delivery team.
Max has shown great potential as a future project manager. His professionalism, adaptability, and collaborative approach made a real impact, and we wish Max good luck with his final year at University.

Max has been an invaluable member of the Project Management team over the last year and shown an aptitude for project management delivery far beyond his previous experience. Industrial Placements are an excellent opportunity for those studying for their degree to gain vocational experience within their industry of choice, whilst widening their understanding of the role. They also bring great benefits to employees through investing in grass roots team delivery and future resilience. Max has been a shining example of this mutual success – well done!

Chris Harte, Transportation Public Sector South Director said:

Max has been providing invaluable support to the team over the last few months on the coordination of the Thurrock Highways and Transportation Professional Services Framework. He has helped develop and update the framework tracker each month so that we can keep on top of the project finances and key performance indicators. He has also gained some useful client-facing experience, through attendance at programme meetings. These newly learned skills should put him in good stead for his final year at university. A big thank you to Max and the best of luck for the final year!
