Lochnagar Pedestrian and Cycle Bridge Nominated for the Footbridge Awards 2025

We are proud to share that our Head of Bridges – South, Adrian Ko, has co-authored the paper on ‘‘Lochnagar Pedestrian and Cycle Bridge in London’’, which has also been nominated for the Footbridge Awards 2025!

The paper will be presented by Knights Architects’ Design Director Hector Beade Pereda at Footbridge on September 3rd in Chur, Switzerland.

Pell Frischmann was appointed by the client, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, to carry out the design of the Lochnagar pedestrian and cycle bridge. The layout features a lower crossing rather than a higher fixed bridge, improving accessibility.

The proposed bridge also aims to improve access for pedestrians and cyclists across the river to Olympic Park and its connectivity with the Thames. Additionally, the design will enhance access to nearby tube and light rail stations on both banks, addressing the existing lack of river crossings within a 2-kilometre stretch.

We look forward to seeing the scheme progress further in collaboration with partners, Knight Architects and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, which will deliver significant social and economic benefits to the area.
