Pell Frischmann’s Zainab Adigun Shortlisted for CN & NCE Inspiring Women in Construction and Engineering Awards
Following recent success in the WE50 Awards, Pell Frischmann is delighted to announce our Senior Structural Engineer, Zainab Adigun, has recently been shortlisted for another high-profile award at the CN & NCE Inspiring Women in Construction and Engineering Awards.
Two major industry publications, Construction News and New Civil Engineer, have joined forces to champion the role of women in construction and engineering across several categories. Shortlisted in the Excellence in Outreach category, Zainab has been recognised for her work with the Association for Black and Minority Ethnic Engineers (AFBE).
AFBE is a not-for-profit organisation that encourages and supports people of black and minority ethnicity to have successful careers in the industry by promoting engineering in schools and through outreach programmes. They have reported that 29.9% of engineering graduates are from black and minority ethnic backgrounds, however, this group only makes up 9.9% of engineering professionals in the UK. They, therefore, recognise that work must be done to develop more diverse and inclusive workplaces.
As a volunteer in the AFBE’s “Making Engineering Hot” programme, Zainab works with school groups from the age of 11 to 18 to “bring engineering to life”, demonstrating what a career in engineering looks like.
On being shortlisted, Zainab said,
It has been nice to be shortlisted and I am looking forwards to the final in October
Please join us in wishing Zainab all the best for the final which will take place on 6 October.
