Pell Frischmann Appointed by Greater Anglia to Complete HCE and Station Condition Surveys
We are excited to announce that Greater Anglia has appointed us to complete Station Condition and Hidden Critical Element (HCE) Surveys at a number of their stations. The condition surveys will provide updates to their station asset and condition database. The Hidden Critical Elements activity is to populate the HCE Tool to identify elements at each site for future surveys. The purpose is to understand the condition and ultimately reduce the risk of functional failures in these assets, thereby minimising potential health, safety, environmental, or operational incidents and collecting asset management data.
HCE’s are defined as: “a load bearing part of a structure, other than a foundation, where buried or hidden, and the condition of that part is crucial to the safety of the structure.” This current work will be to identify the HCE at each location as the basis for subsequent examinations.
The Structure Condition Surveys aim to capture condition data at each site. This will inform asset management and the safe management of the stations.
Our in-house drone team will capture data on-site for the roofs and high-level assets. This is then used by the surveyors as part of the survey regime. It gives added rich data over and above the normal photographic survey methods.
On being appointed to conduct the surveys, Steve Sidgwick, Civil Engineering Integration Lead said:
Our services in Asset Management have been a longstanding part of what our surveyors, engineers and teams do. It’s great to see a client specifying drone surveys as part of the scope, for high-level work from the start, recognising the time and safety benefits of using the tools at our disposal.
Our asset management services include inspection, assessment, survey, digital data capture and engineering and asset management advice to clients.
We will also be taking the opportunity to capture additional photogrammetry data to use in our innovation demonstration activities.
