Georgina said:
Out of the blue, I was contacted by a Chartered Civil Engineer via LinkedIn, who asked for my permission if they could nominate me for the aforementioned award. I was perplexed that such an inspirational female, thought that little old me, who had no prior connections or knowledge of engineering should speak about my experiences. Then I remembered the advice of numerous motivational speakers: say yes. I had no expectations from the nomination, humbled and highly appreciative of the gesture. Thus, upon receiving the LinkedIn shortlist announcement, I chose to celebrate by spending half my day thanking all those that have supported me to get to where I am and study because it all felt so surreal. Through the hardest period that was Covid, to the realisation of the meaning that: ‘with hardships come ease’ and ‘never forget where you’ve come from’.
