Gallows Corner Flyover Refurbishment

Working with Costain for TfL, we’re pleased to be undertaking the detailed design for the refurbishment and superstructure reconstruction of the Gallows Corner Flyover, a vital link facilitating the flow of up to 20,000 vehicles per day on the A127.

Situated in the London Borough of Havering lies the junction of Gallows Corner, where the A12, A127, and A118 main roads meet. Constructed in 1970 as a temporary structure, the flyover underwent targeted repairs in 2009. Following inspections in 2019, it was decided to carry out a major refurbishment of the structure to extend its service life.

Between 2020 and 2022, structural reviews proposed different options including strengthening, partial replacement and full reconstruction of the flyover. The chosen scheme will incorporate a comprehensive refurbishment which would include full bridge deck replacement and substructure strengthening.

Pell Frischmann’s Project Director Dr Sas Majlessi, said:

We are delighted to be part of the team for delivering the Gallows Corner Flyover refurbishment and look forward to working with Costain, TfL and other stakeholders to ensure the continued functionality and safety of this crucial transportation route.
