Designing and Assessing Bridges in West London
We’re proud to announce that we have been appointed by the London Borough of Hounslow to undertake the initial stage design and feasibility study for two pedestrian and cycle bridges in West London.
As part of the initial stage, Pell Frischmann will conduct a comprehensive feasibility study to assess the viability of constructing two pedestrian and cycle bridges in Hounslow. The study will encompass various aspects, including site analysis, working over a river, environmental impact assessment, heritage, and structural considerations. By carefully evaluating the requirements and constraints, Pell Frischmann aims to develop a robust plan that aligns with the Council’s plans to improve cycle infrastructure while ensuring safety, efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
In addition to the design and feasibility study, Pell Frischmann will also undertake the crucial task of assessing the condition and structural performance of Baber Bridge and Baber Auxiliary Bridge. These grade II listed historic structures hold great significance, both architecturally and culturally, and require careful examination to ensure their longevity and safe usage.
On our appointment, Pell Frischmann’s Director, Dr Sas Majlessi, said:
We are thrilled to have been chosen for this prestigious project. Our team is eager to collaborate closely with the London Borough of Hounslow to develop innovative solutions that not only meet functional requirements but also enhance the aesthetic appeal and historical significance of these listed bridges.
Pell Frischmann’s role on the scheme may also extend into concept design, planning and beyond, starting mid-2024. We look forward to working with our client and partners to create a safe and accessible pedestrian and cycling infrastructure while ensuring the long-term sustainability and preservation of the historic Baber Bridges.
