About the role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Digital Engineering Manager with experience in the Highways and Civil Engineering Sector to be part of this established and experienced team working on exciting highway/water/infrastructure/civil engineering projects, who can support  driving forward the implementation of our ambitious digital strategy. You will be responsible for implementing Pell Frischmann’s digital standards and information management processes in highways, infrastructure, civil engineering and transportation schemes for a variety of clients across the UK.

 

Key Responsibilities

You will work with Project Teams across all disciplines including H&T and Civil Engineering to drive digital integration & innovation. The role will work in tandem and partnership with another DEM ensuring compliance with industry standards, best practice, Pell Frischmann policies, digital road map and meeting client requirements.

Furthermore, ensuring that projects are correctly managed to maximise the benefits of Digital Delivery, BIM and optimizing digital tools is critical. This will be from bid stage through live projects, so an understanding of digital delivery and strategy for which best suits the client’s needs and the supply chains capabilities will be expected.

 Key Role Objectives

  • Setting the strategy and delivery plan for digital development within our Highways business, aligned with the overall digital strategy for our Transport and Infrastructure group.
  • Keeping up to date on the development and implementation of our digital strategy
  • Establishing a digital delivery structure for the Highways discipline, supporting the fulfilment of digital career paths.
  • Managing, coordinating and supporting the project teams with the resolution of design issues and clashes, using tools such as BIM Track, Solibri and Revizto.
  • Assisting the business and the project teams with the deployment and configuration of CDE solutions using Project Wise and educating the wider PF project staff in the understanding of BIM processes and tools.
  • Developing BIM and Digital processes for projects, including design collaboration procedures, CDE workflows, drawing production procedure, etc., and supporting teams with its successful implementation.
  • Optimise our investment with Technology Supply Chain Partners
  • Manage tool version rollouts with IT and assist with managing DD Tools licencing and costs
  • Resolve Operational and IT Support Tools and Technology issues
  • Evaluating our business capability and designing and implementing interventions to build capability aligned with existing and future market opportunities.
  • Maintaining an understanding of client needs in the emerging digital world.
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge about relevant technology developments, process and delivery innovations including offsite manufacturing, use of robotics, and automation and facilitating innovation.

EssentialPreferred
Qualifications • A Civil Engineering or Technician degree, or relevant equivalent experience.
Experience • Detailed knowledge of Autodesk technology stack i.e. Civil 3D, Navisworks etc
• Experience with Common Data Environments (CDE) ProjectWise or BIM360.
• Experience in technical delivery of large scale engineering projects with multi-disciplinary knowledge
• Detailed knowledge of the construction industry in the context of BIM & Digital Delivery
• Have a good working knowledge of industry standards and the Government Construction
Strategy 2020 and 2025
• Confident in the use or thorough understanding of the key design and authoring software
(3D Civils, Revit etc etc)
• Experience of implementing BS1192:2007 & PAS1192 suite of standards, CIC Protocol and
knowledge/experience of ISO19650
• 4D modelling experience utilising Synchro in particular
• P6 Programming experience
• Ability to coordinate, liaise and engage with clients and key stakeholders
• Provide mentoring, guidance and technical advice to support and supervise junior staff
• Lead and mentor a small team of technicians with line manager responsibilities.
Skills • A strong communicator and able to build positive working relationships, internally/externally
• across all levels of management
• Detailed knowledge of workflows (schematic design, design development, construction
documentation phases) and project management.
• Detailed knowledge of different needs of the design delivery team (architects, engineers,
estimators, planners and contractors).
