Approval Secured for 173 New Student Homes in Glasgow City Centre

Pell Frischmann is delighted to have contributed to the transport and active travel elements of the recently approved purpose-built student accommodation scheme.

This project, led by our client Dominus, aims to address the undersupply of purpose-built student housing in Glasgow, which has one of the largest student populations in the UK.

The brownfield site is located at the junction of Old Wynd and Osborne Street in Glasgow city centre, and is within walking distance of the University of Strathclyde and Glasgow Caledonian University. The development will feature 173 studio rooms and 9,500 square feet of amenity space for students, including a cinema room, games area, karaoke room, rooftop lounge and external terrace.

We’re pleased to have provided a BREEAM-compliant Framework Travel Plan and Transport Statement for the purpose-built student accommodation, with the aim of encouraging sustainable travel.

The report outlines a range of measures that can be adopted within the development, detailing existing sustainable access options to the site, background to sustainable travel planning, and site-specific measures designed to reduce reliance on private cars and encourage alternative, more sustainable travel options for future residents.
