Pell Frischmann is committed to putting sustainability at the heart of everything we do. We are dedicated to becoming a carbon neutral business by 2025 and becoming net zero carbon by 2040.
As an international engineering consultancy in the built and natural environment, we have to balance the wants and needs of society, whilst safeguarding the future of our planet, shaping a more sustainable future for the next generation and beyond.
Engrained in Pell Frischmann’s culture is our ‘noble purpose’. Our ultimate parent, RAG-Stiftung, is a foundation prioritising the long-term environmental and social commitments resulting from the closing of Germany’s hard-coal mining industry. Our mission is to generate sustainable funds for the foundation; so, our work directly contributes to protecting the environment.
We embed our noble purpose further than the end result; it’s in the way we operate, design and deliver our projects, as well as the legacy we leave behind. This can be demonstrated through our project innovation and early engagement with our clients to advise on sustainability goals and roadmaps, identifying opportunities for biodiversity net gain (BNG), material management and developing low carbon solutions.
One example is our unique Embodied Carbon for Structures (EC4S Tool), designed by our Digital & Structural Engineering Teams, which compares the embodied carbon of designs at the earliest stages of a project, allowing better decision-making and a strong, cost-effective reduction in carbon effortlessly.
Operationally, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and our calculations are certified by independent body, Natural Carbon Solutions, as “Net Zero Carbon Committed” – that a Net Zero target has been set and annual reductions are being achieved (aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative).
Pell Frischmann’s dedicated Head of Sustainability, Mansi Desai, ensures the company delivers against its Sustainability Strategy, driving positive change across the business in everything we do. We have a suite of sustainability service offerings and can help clients address their sustainability challenges and provide competitive edge by developing low-carbon, climate resilient, sustainable solutions.
