Pell Frischmann wins at Structural Awards

Pell Frischmann is delighted to have been named winners at the Structural Awards for our work on The Blavatnik School of Government.

The Blavatnik School of Government won the award for the education and healthcare category. Judges recognised its excellence in structural design to facilitate learning.

This award winning superstructure consists of a series of stacked toroids which are offset floor to floor to reflect the different functions at each level.

The result of this on the structure is that load paths dance dramatically and we resolved this through an array of techniques including a feature PT transfer beam, walking walls and vierendeel reinforced concrete trusses to support a hung stair.

The award, one of several for the building this year, reflects the remarkable and complex work that Pell Frischmann does with some of the best architects in the country.
