Lady Barbara Judge CBE, Board Member

A US-trained lawyer with dual citizenship, Lady Barbara has led a truly remarkable international career as a senior executive across both public and private sectors.

In 1980 she was appointed by the President of the United States as the youngest ever Commissioner of the US Securities and Exchange Commission and began its efforts on internationalisation of the securities markets. In 1983 she moved to Hong Kong and was appointed the first ever female Executive Director of the main board of Samuel Montagu & Co, now part of HSBC; she returned to New York four years later as Senior Vice President and Group Head of Bankers Trust for International Private Banking.

In 1993, she moved to the UK and joined News International plc, again as that company's first ever female Executive Director. After a series of high profile positions, she founded Private Equity Investor plc, a London-listed fund of private equity funds.

In 2002, Lady Barbara became a director of the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) and was appointed Chairman in 2004. She is currently a member of the UAE Advisory Board for the Development of Peaceful Nuclear Energy and chairman of International Advisory Board of the Energy Institute at University College, London. Lady Barbara is also Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Association of Consultants and Engineers (ACE), where she is championing the causes of professionalism and the development of the UK's social and economic infrastructure policy and strategy direction.
